TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS
FULL-TIME, PERMANENT

Calderstones School has an exciting opportunity to appoint a dynamic and innovative Teacher of Mathematics to join our forward-thinking department.  Mathematics is taught throughout the school by a team of high-skilled teachers and is very successful at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Maths is a popular subject at A Level and  in 2019 we introduced A Level Further Maths as a timetabled option.  Our students achieve excellent grades at GCSE.  (See Department Information for more details).

The Mathematics Department is very well resourced with modern, spacious rooms boasting top quality equipment in all rooms. The use of ICT in learning and teaching is actively encouraged and is used extensively across the department.  Applications from NQT’s are welcome and the ability to teach A Level Maths and Further Maths is desirable, although not essential.

NON-TEACHING STAFF VACANCIES

COVER SUPERVISOR (Classroom Based) - Permanent

  • Hours of work: TERM TIME (39 weeks per year)
  • 27.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 8.40 am - 3.10 pm

Cover Supervisors are staff who are trained to supervise students carrying out pre-prepared tasks when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The role is a responsible one which involves taking sole charge of classrooms. The work is set by a qualified teacher and there is no planning or marking involved in this role. Cover Supervisors ensure class work is completed and the student’s behaviour is managed in accordance with the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy.

Our Cover Supervisors are instrumental in ensuring that we consistently provide the upmost standard of teaching and learning to our students. We have an opportunity to appoint a Cover Supervisor on a permanent basis who is passionate about working with young people.

It is essential that candidates have experience of working with young people between the ages of 11 – 18 (ideally in an educational setting) and managing challenging behaviour. You should have the ability to establish rapport quickly with young people whilst maintaining a high standard of control and discipline. A flexible, punctual, professional and approachable manner is essential. A degree qualification or a qualification in teaching and learning support would be advantageous.

This role would suit someone who;

  • Has experience of working with young people and managing their behaviour
  • Has knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is flexible in their attitude to work and is willing to go the extra mile
  • Is confident in dealing with difficult situations
  • Has a good sense of humour
  • Treats everyone with respect and commands it in return

Desirable but not essential skills include:

  • Have previous SEN experience working with young people.
  • Working with young people who display behavioural issues; i.e. ADHD, PDA, ADD, ASD
  • Experience of working in an educational environment
  • Provide commitment to a long-term /permanent role.

In return, we can offer family friendly working hours between 8.40 and 3.10 pm each day, term time only working.
