CALDERSTONES SCHOOL

Monday 24th of June at 7pm in Quarry Hall we have Dr Peter Wothers delivering a science lecture "Gods, Devils and Alcohol". Dr Wothers is a very entertaining speaker and the event definitely won't be a 'dry lecture'
We were very lucky to have snapped up Dr Wothers for our lecture this year before his TV fame (he now isn't doing any more school visits due to being inundated with requests!). It would be fantastic to have a good turnout to the event (will last approx 1hr)
All friends, family, acquaintances are welcome, please spread the word. |

A-LEVEL ART EXHIBITION - TUESDAY 4TH JUNE 2013 |
Our Art department would like to invite you to their annual A-Level art exhibition. It will be taking place on Tuesday 4th June from 3:30-6:30pm in the Arts Wing. It is a tremendous way to celebrate the achievements of our A-Level art students.

STATEMENT REGARDING ENGLISH LITERATURE PAPER 2 – 23 MAY 2013 (PM) |
It was discovered during this exam that a small number of the Anthologies that had been provided by the exam board had been misprinted.
The Exams Officer sought advice from the exam board and as a result of this all candidates were offered an extra 25 minutes at the end of the exam and Special Consideration has been applied for for all candidates.
The Headteacher has also lodged a formal complaint to the exam board. |

MATRIX CHALLENGE 2013 WINNERS |
Our combined Year 7 & 8 football team went to Goodison Park recently to participate in the final of the Matrix 7-aside football tournament. The final was played against Maricourt High School from Maghull and it was an epic and tense encounter.
After a goalless first half, changes were made to give the side an extra spark in their attacking play. With only a matter of minutes left in the game, James Jenkins-Burke raced onto a through ball and poked the ball magically past the hapless Maricourt keeper to send the faithful Calderstones followers into dreamland!
Special mention must go to the captain Fidaan Hajdari who lifted the trophy for the school. Fidaan's contribution included his typical tough tackling to keep the opposition pegged back and strong leadership throughout.
