Welcome to the Calderstones School website.

Calderstones School is an 11-18 co-educational school of about 1,500 pupils with around 250 in the Sixth Form. It is situated in South Liverpool on the edge of Calderstones Park. The establishment of the school is 102 teaching staff and 36 non teaching staff. The catchment area is based on Dovedale, Morrison and Sudley Primary Schools

A recent PFI scheme has spent some £12 million on upgrading all of our facilities. There is a purpose built Science block with 15 labs and a separate Sixth Form Centre located in one of the two Grade II listed buildings on site. A new Arts Wing containing 21 classrooms, four Art rooms, three Music rooms and Drama facility and a new multi purpose Cafeteria. There is a Design & Technology Wing with eight workshops and two classrooms.

The Sports hall, Swimming Pool, two Gymnasia and changing facilities have been
completely refurbished. There is a new sports science room and dance room. A new
Resources Centre houses KS3 and KS4 Library and internet facilities. There is a separate ICT area consisting of five ICT suites.

The school is proud of its tradition of caring for pupils as individuals – the pastoral care is based on a strong year structure and a positive rewards system. The school does not stream; pupils are setted subject-by-subject according to needs. A large proportion of pupils stay on into the Sixth Form – 70 or more going on to Higher Education each year.

Calderstones has a wide range of activities, sporting, cultural, field courses, outdoor pursuits and holidays. It is a popular school and demand for places exceeds supply. The budget for 2006/2007 is in excess of £6m.

The school was inspected by OFSTED in February 1994, in February 1998, March 2004 and in November 2007 receiving very good reports on all occasions.
